The Absolute Robins of Absolute Batman are exactly how you’d hope them to be, especially Absolute Jason Todd

DC's Absolute Universe versions of Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Duke Thomas feel pleasantly familiar

Warning: spoilers for Absolute Batman #20 are ahead!

The day is finally here: the Absolute Robins have flown into duty in the pages of Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin's Absolute Batman. Ever since Absolute Batman hit comic book shops in 2024, DC fans have been wondering what the various characters who have had the Robin mantle in the mainline DC Universe would look like in the Absolute Universe. And how would they act? Would Jason Todd have unbreakable bones? Would Dick Grayson have unbreakable skin?

Now, in Absolute Batman #20, we get a look at what the characters in Slade Wilson's Robin Program are like in action. As a refresher, we're talking Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Duke Thomas here. So what are they like?

Well, it's not a surprise that Absolute Jason is the biggest of the bunch, piloting the biggest mech that is red, of course. Like his mainline counterpart, Absolute Jason is reckless and nearly shoots his more responsible brother-in-arms, Dick Grayson, out of the sky. Dick is the leader of the group and seems to have the coolest head on his shoulders. He's also, naturally, in blue.

The remaining three Robin kids, Stephanie, Tim, and Duke, are the more mobile, boots-on-the-ground members of the crew. Their mechs aren't as big as Dick and Jason's. And while we don't know what all of their exact ages are, I don't think it's too out of pocket to assume that they're younger than Dick and Jason. So perhaps they're less established than them, hence the smaller mechs. Of course, Duke Thomas isn't a Robin in the mainline DC Universe (where he's known as The Signal), but he was co-created by Scott Snyder during his New 52 Batman run, so we're glad to see him in the Absolute Universe.

Hopefully, we'll learn more about each of the Absolute Robins in future issues of Absolute Batman.

Here's an update to date guide on the Absolute Batman release schedule.
