Frank Miller shares his unexpected next challenge in his legendary career

We think Frank Miller has earned some quiet moments after giving us some of the most exciting and influential comic books of all time.

Frank Miller is a man who doesn’t seem to stop. He’s written some of the most influential comic books ever, with his The Dark Knight Returns becoming one of the definitive Batman stories of the past 40 years. He’s got a memoir coming out this summer that promises to share his creative process, but he’s still apparently pushing himself to try new things. Even if those things are outside of comic books.

We spoke to Frank Miller earlier this year and asked him about what he feels is the next challenge he’s undertaking. His answer was surprising; it also had nothing to do with comic books. “Floral arrangement – origami – embroidery,” he told us, citing three activities we don’t typically associate with the author of Daredevil: Born Again and The Dark Knight Returns. “It’s like the title of the movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

It seems that Frank Miller, for all his success, is still eager to try new things and keep his mind active by learning new activities. Even if all he is doing is clearing his mind between drawing and writing comics, the simple activities of floral arrangement, origami, and embroidery could prove valuable to the comic book legend.

Frank Miller isn’t done with comic books just because he’s got a few new hobbies, of course. It was just announced that he’ll be one of the writers on the highly anticipated Amazing Spider-Man #1000, due out later this year. Before that, his new memoir/masterclass in comic book writing is hitting shelves in July 2026.
