What is the difference between The Apothecary Diaries manga?

Both the current Apothecary Diaries manga adapt material from the original novels, so the plots are generally the same. The difference is in the creative team behind them. The Apothecary Diaries is written by original author Hyuganatsu and Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage. However, The Apothecary Diaries: Maomao’s Notes from the Inner Palace is written and illustrated by Minoji Kurata. There is a different art style in each, and they make different choices as far as how to depict scenes, but both are largely the same.

What is The Apothecary Diaries spinoff manga about?

We know we mentioned that there are two Apothecary Diaries manga, but there is actually a third. The Apothecary Diaries: Xiaolan’s Story began publication in March 2025.
