Transmedia brand synergy is all the rage for Marvel Comics right now. Between the upcoming Queen in Black event (capitalizing on the popularity of a Hela skin in Marvel Rivals) and the eventual return of Sue Storm's Malice persona (also capitalizing on the popularity of a skin from Marvel Rivals), Marvel Comics is starting to look a lot like, well, other areas of Marvel Entertainment.

Case in point: this week's Fantastic Four #6 by Ryan North and Humberto Ramos launches a new storyline called The Invincible Woman, already forecast to lead towards the resurgence of Malice. But before we get too ahead of ourselves here, the issue features the return of the Future Foundation, a core organization that was in The Fantastic Four: First Steps movie this summer. Future Foundation is pitched to the FF by superspy extraordinaire, Maria Hill, as a way to reinvent SHIELD for a new age. Now, we're left wondering if anyone has given Captain America the heads up about Hill's plans? 

Of course, the Future Foundation was originally created in Marvel Comics by Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting. But its revival right now, at this point in time, where we already have thousands of Reed Richards players in Marvel Rivals running around in his Future Foundation skin, feels emblematic of latter-day Marvel brand synergy. To be clear, I'm not complaining. I am one of those Mister Fantastic players rocking the Future Foundation look in Rivals. Any chance to bring stuff from the comics, especially ideas from the minds of Hickman and Epting, gets the greenlight in my book.
