Midnight X-Men takes place in a new horror-driven Marvel Universe where the shadows of New York City are controlled by vampires and powerful mutant empires. An uneasy peace exists between the two groups, but internal factions are threatening to ignite a war that would leave the city’s unturned population trapped in the crossfire.

That premise allows Hickman and Della Fonte to reinterpret the X-Men’s familiar themes of persecution, identity, and survival through supernatural horror. Cyclops becomes a vampire hunter, while characters including Storm and Nightcrawler appear in disturbing new forms on the other side of the conflict.

No. Midnight X-Men takes place in Marvel’s new Midnight Universe, an alternate continuity built around darker, horror-inspired versions of familiar superheroes.

The line begins with three connected series: Midnight X-Men, Midnight Spider-Man, and Midnight Fantastic Four.
