Dive back into the beautiful world of Nine Sols with the new prequel manga based on the hit indie game

The Nine Sols prequel manga takes place long before the events of the game and sets up the catastrophic events that gripped us when we played it last year.

Red Candle Games’ Nine Sols was a delightful hit game last year, delivering a fantastic Metroidvania experience set in a Taoist-inspired cyberpunk setting. Ever since it came out, fans have been hoping to dive back into the world of Nine Sols, something that the developers have been keen to do as well. While it doesn’t look like we’re getting a sequel, we are getting a manga prequel to Nine Sols out and the first chapter is already available for you to read.

The plot is set many years before Nine Sols, the new manga is titled Nine Sols – The Way of Lear: Prelude and it comes from a partnership with webcomic platform Mojoin and manga artist Yang Chi-Cheng that has been in the works for about a year ago. In a recent blog post on their Steam page, Red Candle Games confirmed that the partnership had borne fruit and announced the new prequel manga to the world.

The official description for the manga reads: “Ages ago, long before the events of Nine Sols, two Solarians forever altered the course of Penglai’s history. One, a visionary Fangshi. The other, a king among kings. Bound by fate, torn by belief – their unlikely bond would spiral into a clash of destiny.”

The first chapter is up on the Mojoin website, with English, Chinese, and Japanese translations available. New chapters are expected to drop every Wednesday until the story is finished, though we don’t know exactly how many chapters the Nine Sols prequel manga will have.
