Superman and Spider-Man to crossover two more times as DC and Marvel celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first meeting in 2026
DC will reprint the 1976 and 1981 crossover events that brought the Man of Steel and Friendly Neighborhood hero together, and then both DC and Marvel will release new crossovers between Superman and Spider-Man in Spring 2026

Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the first crossover between the Marvel Universe and the DC Universe in 1976’s Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, and DC and Marvel are celebrating the half-century mark by not only bringing the original oversized comic (and its 1981 sequel) back into print — but by bringing the two heroes together in two different all-new crossovers, to boot.
DC Comics have announced plans to reprint both Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man and Marvel Treasury Edition #28: Superman and Spider-Man in January and February 2026, respectively, as Treasury Edition 50th Anniversary of Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 and DC and Marvel Present: Superman and Spider-Man Treasury Edition #1; both will be presented as facsimile editions matching the oversized ‘treasury’ size of their original releases.
The two reprints will be followed in March 2026 with Superman/Spider-Man #1 from DC Comics, and then in April by Spider-Man/Superman #1 from Marvel Comics, following the dual publication format of this year’s Deadpool/Batman and Batman/Deadpool crossovers from Marvel and DC. Details of those titles, including creative teams, will be released as the books are closer to release, per DC.
The continuation of DC and Marvel crossovers beyond this year’s meeting of Batman and Deadpool shouldn’t come as a surprise; Marvel’s Deadpool/Batman #1 wasn’t just an immediate sell-out when it was released in September 2025 — according to a statement on Marvel.com, it was also “the highest selling Marvel comic of the year.” (Maybe it’s the Batman boost, considering the first issue of DC’s flagship Batman series has already outsold 2024’s best-selling comic.) We shouldn’t be surprised if even more crossovers between the two companies are announced as 2026 continues.
Treasury Edition 50th Anniversary of Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 will be released January 7, 2026, with DC and Marvel Present: Superman and Spider-Man Treasury Edition #1 in stores February 4.
