Marvel's next 𝖻̶𝗂̶𝗀̶ small star Symbie has had his solo debut delayed by 7 months

The child-like Venom symbiote Symbie was to star in his own comic this June, but it's now got a serious delay.

Marvel feels like it might have a breakout star in the diminuitive Venom symbiote Symbie. But for some reason, his vaunted first comic has been delayed seven months — just one month after being announced.

Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie framed as an origin story of the "weird little monster" that Marvel says is connected back to the "very beginning of the Klyntar race." Marvel Comics' Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie one-shot was advertised to retailers to hit stores on June 10, and had already begun receiving orders from those comic shops. But on March 26, Marvel informed those same retailers is "being rescheduled for a December 2026 [on-sale date]."

No reason is given for the relatively immense delay, althrough this throws a wrench (perhaps-Symbie sized) into its current Queen in Black event series, as this was, according to Marvel's senior vp of print, sales and marketin David Gabriel, going to be "everything going on in The Queen of Black."

Queen in Black is scheduled to launch July 1, meaning Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie was originally set to be a lead in to that series. Now, assuming Queen in Black ships monthly, Symbie will come out the same month as its finale instead. Whenever it comes out, as it stands now it's to be written by co-creator Joe Kelly along with artist David Baldeon, with Symbie's other co-creator Pepe Larraz drawing the as-yet-unreleased cover.

Kelly and Larraz debuted Symbie with a very brief cameo in 2024's Timeslide #1 one-shot, and from there he graduated straight to co-star of the latest season of Marvel's animated Spidey and his Amazing Friends kid series. Connected to his appearance, Marvel brought him back into comics in Kelly's current Amazing Spider-Man ongoing series run.
