Actress Ming-Na Wen has scored a Disney hat trick - as the Disney princess Mulan, the Star Wars bounty hunter Fennec Shand, and the Agent of SHIELD Melinda May - but she's got her sights on another franchise: The Lord of the Rings.
At Emerald City Comic Con 2026, our very own Martin Vavra sat down with Ming-Na Wen to discuss her illustrious career, and naturally, the subject came up for what sort of projects she'd be up for jumping aboard in the future.
"Anything Peter Jackson does. I wish I could be in a project with him," Ming-Na Wen began. "Is it too late to get you on The Hunt For Gollum yet," our interviewer, Martin, asked. "No, not at all! I don't think it's ever too late... For me, I always joke that I want to be the queen of franchises," replied Wen, dropping that she recently signed on for Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians show.
What kind of role would she want to play in a Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings project? "I think a sorceress would be great," the actress said, before admitting that she was up for anything, she's not picky.
I'll admit that I don't know the world of Tolkien well enough to assign a particular sorceress role for Wen, but I would love to see her try her hand at a Planet of the Apes, Predator, or Avatar film. If I were a Yautja, I'd certainly want her on my side. And let's also not forget the Final Frontier that is Star Trek. The world is Ming-Na Wen's oyster!
