The cries of generations of fans of the Winchester clan have been heard, and Supernatural — the beloved CW drama that ran for 15 seasons starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles — is coming back… as a new comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment, launching this October.

The series, which ran for more than 300 episodes before coming to a conclusion in November 2020, ended with both of the Winchester brothers Sam and Dean dead and united in Heaven… and the new series isn’t about to mess with that kind of happy ending. Instead, the Supernatural comic book will be set between the first and second seasons of the show as the two set out to hunt down supernatural threats throughout small town America.

"A couple of dudes in a cool car chasing monsters, demons, and ghosts? Tongue-in-cheek, but deeply-felt emotional story of sibling rivalry and family tragedy? Hugely fun, anti-authoritarian heroes and vibes? Look, I was hooked with the ghosts, but I'm all in,” said writer Greg Pak, who’ll be scripting the new series with art from his Captain America: Sam Wilson collaborator Eder Messias, in a statement provided by the publisher. “Fans of Supernatural know the show is a blast and it's an enormous pleasure and privilege to be able to dig into this wild world, especially with Eder Messias. We're going for fun and grounded, and then we're going to absolutely cut loose when the time comes. I can't wait to show more, and thanks so much to everyone for coming along for the ride!”

Messias is, if anything, even more excited for the opportunity to expand the Supernatural universe. "When I received the invitation to work on the Supernatural comic book series, I almost fell out of my chair!" he enthused. "It is by far my favorite television series. Here in Brazil, on Saturday nights, they would show four episodes in a row. After that, we would spend the week talking to friends about the next episodes. I'm looking forward to bringing this story to fans and giving it my best!"

The new series will be the second time Supernatural has been continued in comic book form; DC published four prequel miniseries spinning out of the show during its television run, from 2007 through 2012.

Supernatural #1 will be released this October.
