Kaiju No. 8 The Game hits 300k pre-registrations ahead of season 2's release date on Crunchyroll this summer

No release date for Kaiju No. 8 The Game has been confirmed but we suspect it will be this summer while the anime is still airing.

With more than 18 million copies in circulation, Kaiju No. 8 remains one of the most popular anime and manga properties out there. So, it isn’t surprising that it would make the leap into gaming soon. As anticipation builds for season two of Kaiju No. 8 on Crunchyroll, Kaiju No. 8 The Game has surpassed a big milestone – 300,000 pre-registrations.

Kaiju No. 8 The Game is an upcoming mobile game produced by Akatusi Games, Toho, and Production I.G., who are also animating the anime adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga. That means that there should be plenty of consistency between the game and the anime. The story of the game branches from the original as “Kaiju Dimensional Gates” open around the world and let in new threats for the Defense Force to tackle.

The new game based on Kaiju No. 8 has gacha elements to it, with tickets earned (or bought for real money) by players being exchanged for the chance to get powerful new characters from the anime to add to your party for the turn-based battles against Kaiju. For reaching the 300,000-pre-registration milestone, players get ten gacha tickets at launch. If they manage to reach 500,000, players will also get a 4-star Mina Ashiro character for their party.

No release date for Kaiju No. 8 The Game has been confirmed yet, but we expect it will launch sometime this summer when the second season of the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll to take full advantage of the extra hype.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
