Never mind Chaos Phoenix - Marvel Rivals is preparing to give Scarlet Witch a Chaos makeover as well

The connection between Wanda and Jean Grey will be explored further as the Scarlet Witch will get her own chaos costume to parallel Phoenix's, say developers

Marvel fans got to see a new look at Jean Grey when the Marvel Rivals version of Phoenix gained her Chaos Costume — and she’s not going to be only hero to get that treatment.

“In our season three story, Scarlet Witch’s chaos magic ignites the already formidable Phoenix Force.” NetEase art director Dino Ma told a rapt audience at San Diego Comic-Con 2025’s Marvel Rivals: Hero Creation from Concept to Showcase panel. “The fusion of the chaos magic and the Phoenix Force gives rise to power beyond the imagination, transforming both Wanda and Jean, and gives them all new power. The search also changes Jean's appearance, inspiring the stunning new Chaos Phoenix costume.”

This unlikely connection between Wanda and Jean that created Jean’s new Phoenix look has its roots in comic lore, Marvel Games art director Dan DaLuca wanted everyone to know. “In the comics, specifically at the end of Avengers vs. X-Men, it's theorized that the Phoenix Force and chaos magic are equal and opposite powers, almost forming a yin and yang,” he said. “We wanted to fulfill this theory in the game with this unique costume. As you can see, it's only one part of these two amazing women of Marvel coming to life… so we can look forward to the Scarlet Witch Phoenix Chaos costume coming soon.”

This prompted delighted applause from the fans in the room, but seemingly working on the understanding that you should always leave them wanting more, no further details were given. Keep watching Marvel Rivals and waiting for a Scarlet Witch reveal soon, it seems…
