The Avatar: The Last Airbender Magic: The Gathering crossover set wouldn't be complete without the Cabbage Merchant saying "My cabbages..."

The world has changed immensely since Avatar: The Last Airbender first hit the airwaves on Nickelodeon, but the Cabbage Merchant remains eternal.
When Magic: The Gathering game designers were picking out the elements from the beloved animated TV show to include in its dedicated Universes Beyond set, they knew that they had to throw a bone to one fan-favorite character in particular: the Cabbage Merchant. Fans first grew attached to him after the show featured a running gag where the Cabbage Merchant would exclaim, "MY CABBAGES!" whenever shenanigans would befall his produce cart. To put it in SpongeBob terms, the Cabbage Merchant is akin to the guy from SpongeBob constantly screaming, "My leg!"
In a First Look video on the official Magic: The Gathering YouTube channel, the set's game designers detailed the genesis of The Cabbage Merchant card in the Avatar: The Last Airbender set. "A full team of designers that were all Avatar fans worked to make sure that it wasn't just green packet number three, but it was, 'No, let's make a Cabbage Merchant packet that has food tokens and is all themed around the cabbages... And that was really important to make sure that Jumpstart had its own identity and was delivering on things that were going to delight fans of the show, even beyond things that we couldn't fit into the main set," said Chris Mooney, one of the game designers on Avatar: The Last Airbender. You can take a look at the card below.

This Cabbage Merchant card will only be available in the Jumpstart packs from Avatar: The Last Airbender. But the game designers also alluded to the chance that we'll also see the Cabbage Merchant in artwork from cards found elsewhere in the set. So keep your eyes peeled!
Magic: The Gathering x Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released November 21, 2025.
