Hopefully, Alice Cooper has learned by now that school is not out forever. Classes are back in session for Magic: The Gathering's upcoming set, Secrets of Strixhaven. The Magic multiverse's magical school returns for its sophomore year with new professors, new students, and, of course, the power of math.

All of the cards featured in this article, along with their prices, were determined by using TCGPlayer. The market prices of the cards are subject to change once the set comes out. Without much further ado, let's dive into the most expensive Secrets of Strixhaven Magic: The Gathering cards.

5. Lorehold the Historian

Secrets of Strixhaven marks the return of dragons to Magic: The Gathering for the first time in a minute (Tarkir, anyone?), and the representative of this shift is Lorehold the Historian. At this time of writing, Lorehold the Historian will set you back $46.11 on TCGPlayer.

4. Witherbloom, the Balancer (Borderless)

There are five colleges within Strixhaven, one for each of the dragons that founded the school. And one of the colleges is named after Witherbloom, enshrined in the Witherbloom, the Balancer card. But, for the borderless version of the card, you'll have to cough up $54.99 for it, which is its market price on TCGPlayer.

3. Mathemagics (Extended Art)

As I said earlier, math is going to be a key component of the Quandrix college at Strixhaven, given that it's the school of Numeromancy. The extended version of Mathemagics will cost you $56.99 on TCGPlayer, and it includes some lovely math to strike fear into the hearts of my fellow math strugglers: "Target player draws 2x cards. (20 = 1, 21 = 2, 22 = 4, 23 = 8, 24 = 16, 25 = 32, and so on.)

2. Emeritus of Ideation

Secrets of Strixhaven gets pricier with these last two cards. The Emeritus of Ideation is a powerful card that has Ancestral Recall, where the target player draws three cards. And whenever the Emeritus of Ideation attacks, you can exile eight cards from your graveyard. Sheesh! For that reason, Emeritus of Ideation currently has a market price of $104.99 on TCGPlayer.

1. Lorehold, the Historian (Borderless)

And rounding out our most expensive Secrets of Strixhaven card list is the borderless version of Lorehold, the Historian. This fancy dragon currently has a price of $148.99 on TCGplayer.

Magic: The Gathering Secrets of Strixhaven will be released on April 24, 2026.
