Magic: The Gathering's upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender Universes Beyond set is one of the most highly anticipated MTG sets in recent memory. Fans flooded the Magic: The Gathering panels at San Diego Comic-Con in the hopes of getting a peek at the Avatar set, but alas, that was not in the cards (pun intended). Fortunately, fans didn't have to wait much longer, because Wizards of the Coast has now unveiled a few cards from the upcoming Universes Beyond set.
Magic: The Gathering's YouTube channel posted a video yesterday showing off a multitude of cards from the Avatar: The Last Airbender set, which you can take a look at below. In addition, on the official MTG website, they also gave us a look at the full-art Appa basic lands that are a part of the set. All of the basic lands feature Appa, the flying creature from the TV show, soaring above some familiar landscapes. It's a cute touch that's been added to the set.
Much like the Universes Beyond sets for Final Fantasy and Marvel's Spider-Man, the Avatar: The Last Airbender set features double-faced saga cards. MTG explained their choice as such: "By the time we meet Aang in the original series, the prior Avatars and their foes are mythical figures. We're depicting their stories on a cycle of mythic rare borderless Sagas. These Sagas, upon reaching their final chapter, transform into powerful legendary creatures worthy of their fables."
So, while we're still a month away from the release of Marvel's Spider-Man, Wizards of the Coast is raring to go with the Avatar: The Last Airbender set. Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released into game shops on November 21, 2025.
