The most expensive cards in the MTG x Final Fantasy set are Traveling Chocobos and a Rhystic Study variant
Hold on to your butts (or your Chocobo?), because the prices on the secondary market for the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy cards are nuts

Both Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy fans have been counting their coins this spring ahead of the release of the Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy crossover set. At PAX East this spring, Wizards of the Coast unveiled a look at some of the cards from the set, and boy howdy, are our bank accounts stressed. Without much further ado, let's all collectively elevate our blood pressures as we take a look at the most expensive card from the Final Fantasy set.
According to Card Kingdom at the time of writing, the most expensive card from the Final Fantasy Magic: The Gathering set is the black ink, foil, borderless Traveling Chocobo card that's currently only available in Japanese. It is listed on Card Kingdom at $2,999.99. Crikey! The other foil, borderless Traveling Chocobo cards are listed for $1,999.99, while the most expensive non-Chocobo card is a foil, borderless Rhystic Study that's been reprinted for the Final Fantasy crossover as Stay With Me. That one is only $699.99, practically a steal (he says, screaming into a pillow).

So what's the deal with the Chocobos? Well, aside from being adorable, they're coming in extremely limited editions for this set. For instance, there will only be 77 copies of the gold Traveling Chocobo printed in this set, and each of the cards will be individually numbered. Once the set is released and Magic: The Gathering fans around the world find all the golden Chocobos (I'm just going to pretend that scalpers no longer exist in the world, just give me this much), we'll see if the standings for the most expensive Final Fantasy Magic card changes at all.
In the meantime, I'll be sitting here trying not to go broke this summer while my Sephiroth plushie hovers like Evil Kermit in my office, tempting me to get some packs. Wouldn't be the first time this has happened. Well wishes and kind thoughts are appreciated at this time.
