There's a new most expensive Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy card, as this Golden Traveling Chocobo sold for $40k on eBay - and there are 76 more in the wild
The Final Fantasy Magic: The Gathering set is the top-selling set in history, and its Traveling Chocobos are popping off on the secondary market.

As you might imagine, the Final Fantasy set from Magic: The Gathering is selling like hotcakes. It's already the top-selling Magic: The Gathering set in history. Not surprisingly, the cards from the Final Fantasy crossover have been a hit on the secondary market, already blowing our expectations out the window.
As Wargamer reports, one of the 77 Golden Traveling Chocobo cards has sold for $40,000. The Golden Traveling Chocobo cards are only available in English collector booster packs. The card that was sold was #41 out of 77, and the sale was made by Collectors Lounge, a card shop in Southern California, on eBay. The card shop originally listed the card for $200,000 before settling for a cool $50,000 "or best offer," and in this case, the best offer ended up being $40,000.

Previously, we had reported that the most expensive Final Fantasy Magic: The Gathering card was the black, foil, borderless Traveling Chocobo that is only available in Japanese. That card was priced on Card Kingdom at $2,999.99 at the time of reporting. This Golden Traveling Chocobo sale puts his inky brethren to shame.
As more and more Golden Traveling Chocobos get discovered over the next few weeks, we expect to see some other eyebrow-raising sales made. Or perhaps not! It's risky business broadcasting the sale or ownership of such valuable cards. We send our congratulations to the folks at Collectors Lounge! And to all who have managed to get their hands on some collector booster packs, may the odds ever be in your favor.
