How far would you go if you were dissatisfied with the state of the world? Would you go as far as to reshape the entire universe in your own image, much like Hal Jordan in DC's crossover event, Zero Hour: A Crisis in Time? Or would you keep things more local, much like Wanda Maximoff in the WandaVision show? Or, and stay with me here, would you just go to therapy?

For Jace Beleren, the answer is to go full Parallax, and that's on display in Magic: The Gathering's upcoming set, Reality Fracture. The premise for Reality Fracture is that Jace Beleren has created an entirely new universe called the Echoverse that is without the "evil" of the mainline Magic multiverse. There are no Phyrexians, no Eldrazi, and no Bolas. Instead of the wonderful magical school Strixhaven, there is a darker institution known as Hexhaven. 

During the Q&A session at a press event for Reality Fracture, a journalist asked Magic's head of design Mark Rosewater and Reality Fracture principal game designer Yoni Skolnik, "Why is Jace building a whole new multiverse instead of going to therapy?" referencing the meme, "men will literally [insert dramatic feat here] than go to therapy." In response, Skolnik said, "This was a very common question. It was great to get to say repeatedly, '[Jace] will literally build a new multiverse rather than go to therapy.'"

Here's to hoping that somehow, somewhere, in that Echoverse, Jace Beleren can get some therapy for himself. 

Reality Fracture will be released on October 2, 2026.
