Ever since the very first Pokémon game came out, it has been at the top of our Fictional Universes We Want to Live In list. Everyone gets a free pet, goes on a quest when they turn 12, and every criminal organization is so harmless that they can be foiled by a group of tweens. Alas, we can’t go to the Pokémon world, but we can at least get a taste of what that would feel like, thanks to a new set of Pokémon Rooms popping up across Japan.
Japanese hotel company MIMARU has unveiled its new Pokémon Rooms, which are available to reserve up until the end of November 2026. With locations across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, if you’re planning a Japan trip this year, there is probably a Pokémon Room waiting for you.
Prices depend on where you’re staying, with the Ikebukuro location running around $321 per night for an apartment hotel with a futon bed and separate bunk beds for the kids. With the latest renovation to the Pokémon Rooms, MIMARU is aiming to deliver more Pokémon, so, as you’d expect, everything is decked out with around 100 Pokémon throughout the apartment. The beds. The tables. Pokémon are hidden around the hotel to encourage fans to look around to discover more. The whole space looks like someone threw a load of Poké Balls into the room in the best kind of way.
In addition to sleeping under the watchful eye of Snorlax and Pikachu, visitors will get to walk away with a collection of Pokémon-branded goods, ranging from laundry bags to purses to drawstring bags, for guests to take with them.
