Grand Theft Auto V actors Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno are hoping for a return in GTA 6 - but say they couldn't tell you if they've already done it

Shawn Fonteno hopes the GTA 5 gang will return for GTA 6

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI has been long. Like... really long. While details are trickling out, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the game. For example, a December 2023 trailer revealed that a woman named Lucia and her unnamed male partner would be the protagonists of the game. The question is, will any of the GTA 5 characters be joining them?

During a spotlight panel at Sci-Fi Valley Con 2024, a fan asked GTA actors Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno if they would be returning for GTA 6. “We can tell you, but we would have to kill you, and we don’t want you to die,” Luke joked.

“Even if I knew, I couldn’t tell you guys. You know that, man. You know it’s real strict. I hope so. I hope we’re back. I hope the whole crew is back. I would hope so, but we’ve got no answers to it. You all can tell us more about it than we could tell you about it,” Fonteno added.

GTA 6 is expected to be released in late 2025, so it’s likely that voice acting and motion capture work has already been completed. Is this an Andrew Garfield situation, where Shawn and Ned are being coy about their presence, or are the characters not in the game? We’ll find out later this year when GTA 6 is (finally) released.
