Stellar Blade has soared where other Sony PlayStation exclusives have struggled, nearly tripling the Steam concurrent players of Marvel's Spider-Man and God of War

Stellar Blade has landed on PC, just over a year after it was initially released on PlayStation 5. The Korean action-adventure game hit Steam last week and managed some impressive feats – in addition to selling over 1 million copies in less than a week, it has more than doubled the number of concurrent PC players of former PS5 exclusives like God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
At its peak, Stellar Blade hit 192,078 concurrent players on Steam. This can be compared to God of War, which managed 73,529 players, or Ghost of Tsushima, which reached 77,154. However, it is really telling that Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered only managed 66,436 at its peak, barely a third of the number that Stellar Blade has managed.
Sony has been trying to crack the market for PC ports of their PlayStation exclusives to grow their audience, but it has been a struggle. Last year’s Helldivers 2 was a significant hit, with nearly half a million concurrent players at its peak, but that was a multiplayer game designed to be played with other people. Stellar Blade’s PC port is the first single-player game to crack the 100,000 concurrent player barrier for Sony.
There is probably an element of timing that has helped Stellar Blade reach this milestone where Spider-Man and God of War have fallen short. Developer Shift Up revealed last month that they were developing a sequel to the game, which brought Stellar Blade back into the news cycle just before it landed on PC. There is also the fact that Stellar Blade is very, very good, with great character designs and fast-paced combat.
Whatever the reason, we’re sure Sony will be looking at what Stellar Blade has done right as they try to expand more into the PC gaming market.
