Critical Role is bringing its Delicious in Dungeon-style Daggerheart campaign to life in liveplay with Viva la Dirt League

Beast Feast, which Critical Role's Daggheart has described as a campaign similar to fantasy anime Delicious in Dungeon, is coming to Viva la Dirt League.

We've barely gotten into the second day, but already, PAX Unplugged 2025 has been a momentous occasion for Daggerheart. The brand new TTRPG, expertly crafted by the folks at Critical Role's Darrington Press, opened Day Two with a host of giant announcements at a panel that included Daggerheart’s game designers Matt Mercer, Spenser Starke, Rowan Hall, Elise Rezendes, and Jeremy Crawford. But for part of that panel, the discussion didn't focus on the D&D staples that were on stage at all.

No, there was a second there when all anybody wanted to hear about was Viva la Dirt League.

In case you don't know, Viva la Dirt League is a New Zealand-based comedy team consisting of Rowan Bettjeman, Alan Morrison and Adam King. In 2020, the cast started a spinoff of their massively popular YouTube channel in which the gang plays Dungeons and Dragons, and pretty soon after it became a massive hit. Since they've started, the crew has only used the D&D system to play their hysterical TTRPG sagas...

But soon, that's going to change.

"Some of you may have heard of a little channel called Viva la Dirt League," said Mercer at one point in the PAX Unplugged panel. "[They're] one of the friends of the game, and they're going to be jumping into a Daggerheart series."

Now, to be 100% transparent, dedicated fans of the channel already knew that this team-up was coming after the troupe teased the collab in a recent post. What no one knew, though, was what that collaboration would look like. Well, no one before Daggerheart's PAX panel, I suppose.

"It will be set in the Beast Feast campaign," Mercer continued, "Which you remember we played here at PAX last year."

(If you don't remember, don't worry - Popverse was there. You can read our coverage to learn more, but a great way of understanding the gist of it is to think "Delicious in Dungeon TTRPG.")

Wrapping up quickly (hey, they had a lot of announcements to get through), Daggerheart's senior producer Eise Rezendes revealed that Viva la Dirt League x Daggerheart would be kicking off sometime in January 2026, and that the series would run for 30 episodes.

Although let's be honest, liveplay fans. Odds are that it won't be the end of it.

From the lands of Exandria to your very own smartscreens, Popverse has everything you need to know about the TTRPG phenomenon that is Critical Role. Here you'll find:

...and more. Roll initiative, player. Adventure awaits.
