When (and where) will we be able to stream Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on Netflix and beyond?

All ghost stories are better at home, right?

The wait is finally over and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is now haunting cinemas across the world. The latest chapter in the Ghostbusters story is something of a return home for the series, but when will you be able to watch both generations of paranormal investigators in the comfort of your own home? You’ll have to wait until Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire finds a streaming lands on a streaming service.

Fortunately, we know where Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is likely to end up once its theatrical run comes to an end. Back in 2021, Sony inked a deal with Netflix for the streamer to carry its new releases in the first instance. That deal runs through 2026, which means that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will land on Netflix before it goes to any other streamer.

However, if you don’t have Netflix, you will still get a chance to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – you’ll just have to wait a bit longer. After it leaves Netflix, usually around 18 months after it arrives on the platform, it will then move to one of Disney’s streaming services. Whether it ends up on Hulu or Disney+ will depend largely on where you live.

When will Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire be available to stream? That requires a bit more guesswork, unfortunately. There isn’t a specific timeframe for Sony to release the movie to Netflix, but past experience tells us that it will happen before 2024 is up. Recently, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hit Netflix in October 2023 after its June release date. If Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire follows the same pattern, it should be on Netflix in August or September of this year.

This is a bit of speculation on our part and is subject to change. If Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has a particularly good or bad theatrical run, it could shift when Sony gives Netflix the rights to stream it.
