The Winter 2024 anime season approaches and brings with it a fresh batch of shows for us to all obsess over in the coming year. As the nights get long and the air gets cool, Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable is high on our list of shows to keep up with thanks to the wintery imagery and the cozy, romantic vibes. With just a few weeks left before the show is meant to air, we finally have a release date for the Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable anime adaptation.
When is the first episode of Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable coming out?
The first episode of Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable will air in the early hours of January 9, 2024 in Japan – or 10:30 am on January 8 on the East Coast and 3:30 pm in the UK. Originally, the show was meant to premiere in 2023 but it was delayed several times throughout the year. We actually don’t mind the delays, since the anime’s ski resort setting makes it the perfect addition to the Winter anime lineup. The second trailer, which includes the opening and closing songs for the first season, gives powerful hot chocolate-sipping vibes throughout.
Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable is based on the manga of the same name by Kai Ikada. It follows high school student Tsubasa as he transfers from a school in Tokyo to one in snowy Hokkaido. As he arrives in town, he meets Minami, a young woman in his class who loves the “gal” subculture. She dyes her hair blond and wears short skirts despite living in a ski resort. Although they are very different, the pair strike up a friendship and, eventually, a romance. It is similar to 2022's My Dress-Up Darling, except the plot actually goes somewhere eventually.
Where can I watch the Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable anime?
As yet, we don’t know which streaming service will carry Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable, though we suspect it will be part of the Crunchyroll simulcast lineup for the Winter 2024 anime season. This isn’t unusual – Crunchyroll often doesn’t announce their seasonal anime lineup until a week or two before the season starts, so we don’t expect confirmation until closer to the end of December.
