Watch the Horror as a Mirror, Horror as Escape panel with Chuck Tingle, Tananarive Due, Kylie Lee Baker, & Bethany C. Morrow from Bookcon 2026!

Fright fans at BookCon came out in droves for Horror as a Mirror, Horror as Escape: How Lived Experiences Shape Fictional Fears - featuring Tingle (Lucky Day), Due (The Reformatory), Baker (Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng), and Morrow (The Body) - and Popverse filmed it

Did you know we're just about halfway to Halloween? It's true - and we can't think of a better way to mark the annual milestone than by hearing from some of the horror genre's most popular prose writers. If you were at BookCon 2026, you'll know I'm talking about Chuck Tingle, Tananarive Due, Kylie Lee Baker, & Bethany C. Morrow, who were all guests at the eye-opening, spine-tingling panel, Horror as a Mirror, Horror as Escape: How Lived Experiences Shape Fictional Fears.

If you couldn't make their panel, though, have no fear (er, have fear of a different thing?). Popverse was onsite with our best ghost-hunting equipment (a camera) to capture all the ghoulish gaieties, and now, we're making our freaky footage available to you, creepy compadre.

This is one of the many Bookcon 2026 panels Popverse filmed at New York City's Javits on the Hudson. Consult our Bookcon 2026 panel hub for a list of all of the panels we have available, and what's left to be released.
