Writing is usually a very private process, but Matt Dinniman has turned the creation of his Dungeon Crawler Carl series into a surprisingly public event. According to the author’s Patreon, Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 8, titled A Parade of Horribles, has been turned over to Ace Books for editing, but you can already read the whole thing if you want it before its official release date.

Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 8 will officially be released on May 12, 2026 and is currently undergoing final edits by Ace Books. Matt Dinniman’s Patreon has revealed that the final book will be 98 chapters long. However, Dinniman has been posting every chapter of the book for his Patreon supporters to read early. While these don’t reflect the final version that the publisher will sign off on, it is likely to be very close.

Matt Dinniman is posting a few chapters a day until the final chapter of Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 8 is available to supporters on Patreon. Currently, the most recent chapter posted was Chapter 87, so we are just a few days away from seeing the finale of A Parade of Horribles. Dinniman has said he will drop an epub of every chapter when the final chapter is posted to his Patreon.

The official Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 8 release date is May 12, 2026, but you can read most of A Parade of Horribles right now if you subscribe to Matt Dinniman’s Patreon. The final chapter is expected to be posted early next week.
