It’s the espionage crossover you never saw coming, with a new poster for the upcoming anime Spy × Family Code: White disguising itself as… a Mission: Impossible movie?

It’s wonderfully true; as revealed by Crunchyroll, the latest poster for CODE: White is a recreation of a poster for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, in theaters this week. (Buy tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets.)

This officially sanctioned tribute isn’t the only way in which the fan-favorite Spy × Family is paying tribute to Mission: Impossible; the team behind the anime also created a teaser for the new Tom Cruise movie, which you can see below.

All of this is likely to only whet fans’ appetite for Spy × Family Code: White even more; that movie, which is directed by Takashi Katagiri and based on an original story, will not arrive in theaters in Japan until December 22 this year. Find out more about the movie, and the second season of the anime, right here.

What makes SPY x FAMILY so essential? Popverse contributor Beatrix Kondo breaks down the series’ appeal.
