Minecraft 2 gets a title AND a fan contest at the same time

If you want to see your build in A Minecraft Movie Squared, here is your chance

Builders around the world got a couple of exciting announcements over the weekend. The biggest is definitely the title of the Minecraft Movie sequel, because when a movie makes close to a billion dollars at the box office, a sequel legally has to be on its way. For the more creative players of Minecraft, there is a chance to win yourself a special screening of the upcoming film and see your own creation on the big screen.

In a video posted on social media, the studio behind A Minecraft Movie showed off plenty of new details about the sequel, which is titled A Minecraft Movie Squared in an obvious play on Minecraft Movie 2 and the game’s block aesthetic. However, the announcement that probably has more fans excited is the fact that they’re giving fans the chance to build their way into the new movie.

The Minecraft Movie Build Challenge is currently open and is a test of fans’ creativity with blocks. Using a 16x16x32 map, they need to build something incredible that could exist in one of four biomes in the game (plains, taiga, badlands, and frozen ocean) using only certain mobs and blocks. You have until June 8, 2026 to enter, and winners will be confirmed in July. Winners will get:

  • 15 Semifinalists: 2 movie tickets per semifinalist
  • 3 Finalists: Private screening (1 per finalist) and 2 movie tickets
  • 1 Winner: Build included in the movie or end credits, 1 private screening, and 2 movie tickets

If that sounds like you, you can check out the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge website for full rules and how to enter.

A Minecraft Movie Squared is coming to cinemas on July 23, 2027.
