Did Alan Cumming just drop an Avengers: Doomsday spoiler by accident?
We can't wait to see Nightcrawler back in action in Avengers: Doomsday - especially if he's fighting other Marvel heroes

2027’s Avengers installment is called Secret Wars, but fans shouldn’t be worried that 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday is going to lack action — especially because one of the stars of the movie has already teased a sequence that could see an X-Men/Fantastic Four battle.
“I’m playing Nightcrawler again now,” Alan Cumming said during an interview with Buzzfeed UK. “I’m learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, ‘I’m 60 years old.’ 23 years ago, I played that superhero. I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious, that I’m learning these fights.”
He went on, “I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something. It’s just something that I can’t quite believe, especially because it was such a long time ago [that I first played the character].”
On the one hand, it’s sweet to see Cumming being nostalgic (and amused) about returning to the role of Nightcrawler again after 2003’s X2: X-Men United. On the other, tell us more about hitting Pedro Pascal in the head, Alan. There's always the possibility he picked the name at random — the "or something" allows for that possibility in particular — but it's a telling choice, one way or another. After all, he picked another of the heroes, not a villain...
We shouldn’t be too surprised if Avengers: Doomsday is going to pit various Marvel heroes against each other, given that it’s kind of a repeated trope through any MCU movie featuring multiple heroes at this point — but we’re also curious if the X-Men and Fantastic Four will be fighting to protect their respective realities in the oncoming crush of Secret Wars…? After all, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness did introduce the idea of “incursions…”
Avengers: Doomsday will be released May 2026.
