Avengers: Doomsday to feature Valkyrie? Tessa Thompson isn’t saying no
Thor: Ragnarok breakout star Thompson says she's "not able to confirm anything" about Valkyrie returning to go toe-to-toe with Doctor Doom in the next Marvel tentpole. But also, she's not outright denying it either...

At this point, I simply don't trust anything Marvel actors say about Avengers: Doomsday. Whether it's Chris Evans's denying his now-confirmed return or Alan Cummings's non-spoiler-spoiler, I feel like most of what I'm hearing coming from the cast is subject to change, if they even know themselves. So believe me, folks, I'm trying not to get my hopes up after Tessa Thompson didn't deny she could be in the movie.
I know, I know, a couple double negatives there - let me explain. Thompson, who plays the Marvel Cinematic Universe's coolest Asgardian Valkyrie, recently went on the Bingeworthy podcast and talked about the possibility of her being in Doomsday. Reported by the Playlist on January 9, the key to her statement in that regard is that she's "not able to confirm anything" about her involvement.
That sure isn't a no, Valkyrie fans.
What the Westworld star was a lot more forthcoming about, though, was what she would hypothetically like to do if given the chance to put the armor back on again - that is, to explore a different emotional side of the Asgardian warrior.
"I think this is the coolest thing about hanging out inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe," said the Creed actor. "All the incredible people that you get to play with, both the incredible craftspeople that create these worlds, all the amazing directors that they invite into these spaces, and all of the incredible talent."
"And also," she concluded, "I think there are so many tonal spaces you can go to inside of a Marvel movie. [...] You can explore drama and comedy, and there’s so much to do [...] And I just love the character so much that I would always be interested."
Sure, Tessa, sure. No chance you were anywhere near Pinewood Studios last year, is there? (She was, in fact, in London during the movie's shoot according to reports. Coincidence? You decide.)
Avengers: Doomsday gallops into theaters (hopefully with Valkyrie in tow) December 18, 2026.
