Thor and WandaVision star Kat Dennings isn't in Avengers: Doomsday, she thinks - but even she isn't sure

Kat Dennings says, "to be honest, [Marvel] could put me in anything they want at this point" without her being aware of it, so who can tell about Avengers: Doomsday?

Look, we already know that Avengers: Doomsday is going to be a very very packed movie, when it comes to characters. In case the five-hour-plus initial cast announcement back in March 2025 that listed no less than 27 characters didn’t make this clear enough, consider the fact that we’re getting trailers with even more characters for the movie being released. It’s getting to the point where it’s unclear who’s in, and not in, Avengers: Doomsday — and that is true for the actors themselves, as well as the fans.

“I am in the universe and, as you know, I can’t tell you anything. But I am not in it. I mean, I’m not in it. I am telling you right now, I’m not in it. If I were in it, which I’m not, I couldn’t tell you, but I literally am not,” Kat Dennings told Entertainment Tonight about whether or not she’ll show up in 2026’s big Marvel movie. But if she sounds somewhat unconvinced about whether or not Darcy Lewis — her character from the Thor movies and WandaVision — could show up, there’s a reason for that.

“I’m sure they already filmed it. I was here [on set of her ABC sitcom Shifting Gears],” she continued. “I’m not in it. But they did scan me, so, to be honest, they could put me in anything they want at this point. I’m in the system.”

While Marvel has experience digitally de-aging actors in movies, it’s not gone so far as to have an entirely digital avatar of an actor show up in a movie in any substantial manner just yet outside of VFX shots. Although it’s perhaps worth remembering that Marvel Studios does have a 20-year deal for the digital likeness of the late Stan Lee that has 17 years left to run…

Avengers: Doomsday will be released December 18. Maybe there’ll be a digital Kat Dennings in there. Maybe there’ll be a digital Stan Lee. Perhaps Tilly Norwood might even make a cameo.

Consider this a meta post-credits scene for Marvel fans - the four key articles you need to read next to continue the thrills:

Graeme McMillan: Popverse Editor Graeme McMillan (he/him) has been writing about comics, culture, and comics culture on the internet for close to two decades at this point, which is terrifying to admit. He completely understands if you have problems understanding his accent.
