There is a wonderful candor that comes with being an international superstar like Sharon Stone. The actor has done some iconic movies over the years, which have afforded her the ability to be brutally honest in a way most people can only imagine. When she was asked about the possibility of a Basic Instinct reboot, Sharon Stone revealed that she simply does not care what people think about her at this point in her career, and we love that for her.
Rumors of a Basic Instinct reboot have been swirling for a few weeks now, so it makes sense that Sharon Stone, who gave an iconic performance in the original film, would be asked about it. While being interviewed on Today, she didn’t hold back at all. “If it goes the way the one I was in went, then I would just say I do not know why you would do it,” Stone explained, referring to the universally panned Basic Instinct 2. “Go ahead. Good fucking luck.”
As to why she isn’t holding back with her thoughts, Sharon Stone remarked, “I’m at that stage in my life where I already retired once. And I already died a couple times. I’m like, ‘What are you going to do? Kill me again? Go ahead.’”
So, it is looking unlikely (but not impossible) that we’ll see Sharon Stone back in a Basic Instinct reboot, but at least she hasn’t let the years of success dull the edge that made her performance in the original so iconic.
