Amazon's He-Man Masters of the Universe looks like the best of MCU James Gunn & Taika Waititi (at least, in the first trailer)

Marvel Studios walked so He-Man & The Masters of the Universe could run and jump.

Conan walked so the iconic He-Man & the Masters of the Universe franchise could run, and now the first full trailer for Amazon MGM Studios' Masters of the Universe live-action film is also standing on the shoulders of giants: the MCU giants of Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn and Thor's Taika Waititi.

As revealed Thursday morning, the first full trailer for the He-Man-led film has done well of taking the formula Marvel Studios have built - at least in terms of trailer - to have a mix of familiar characters, witty in-jokes for the longtime fans (such as myself), no sign of Jared Leto (just his CGI face), and one thing left to the imagination. Seriously, is Orko the Groot of MotU cinematic universe?

Enough from me. Watch this trailer:

Masters of the Universe stars Red, White & Royal Blue's Nicholas Galitzin (who was in the running for the the 2025 Fantastic Four movie's Human Torch role) as Prince Adam/He-Man, and is joined by some Marvel movie vets in Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, and the aforementioned Leto. It's directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee, ParaNorman) from a group-written script that was polished by Marvel & DC veteran David Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse).

Masters of the Universe is set to hit theaters June 5 of this year, coming just two weeks after Star Wars' The Mandalorian & Grogu.
