Marvel Studios has been told not to bring Miles Morales into the MCU - at least not until 2027

Kevin Feige gets to play with exactly one Spider-Man until Sony Pictures' Spider-Verse trilogy is finished.

If we’ve learned anything from the past several years, it is that people love Spider-Man. He remains one of the most bankable characters for Marvel, whether he is in the MCU or floating across the Spider-verse. Kevin Feige is keen to try to expand on Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man series, but he’s been given a strict order to keep away from Miles Morales – at least until Sony Animation is done with him.

Ahead of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios head who has been the guiding force behind the MCU since Tony Stark got stranded in that cave with a box of scraps, explained that they weren’t allowed to bring Miles Morales into the MCU just yet. When asked about any plans to include the character in future movies, Feige said, “That is nowhere.”

The reason is pretty obvious. Sony Pictures still owns the rights to Miles Morales (even getting Peter Parker’s Spider-Man into the MCU was a landmark deal at the time), and they’ve still got plans for him. Specifically, the conclusion to the Spider-Verse trilogy, which is set to happen with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2027. Until that movie is out, Marvel Studios has “Been told to stay away.”

Of course, Marvel still has access to Peter Parker as Spider-Man, who has been played by Tom Holland since Captain America: Civil War. It has been confirmed that Holland will be joined by Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so it is hard to feel too bad for them. Still, it would be very cool to one day see Parker and Morales in the same movie; we’ll just have to wait a little longer to see it happen.
