Marvel star Lewis Pullman explains why the MCU's New Avengers are fine with the Sentry couch-surfing in Thunderbolts* post-credit scene
Lewis Pullman thinks that the former Thunderbolts are wanting to keep the all-powerful Sentry close, knowing how dangerous he is ahead of Avengers: Doomsday

The Sentry is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, even if it’s a power that he can’t exactly access without… well, we all saw Thunderbolts* (sorry, I mean The New Avengers), and we know what happens when Bob uses his powers full out. Knowing what he’s capable of — and, for that matter, what happens when he pushes himself too far — it’s worth wondering what kind of future the Sentry can have in the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and just why the New Avengers keep him around when he’s so darn dangerous.
“I’m really excited to find out,” actor Lewis Pullman said when asked about what lies ahead for the all-powerful character in Avengers: Doomsday and beyond. (It’s not as if he was going to reveal the entire plot of Doomsday or 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, after all.)
Pullman has a theory about why the character is still hanging out with the former Thunderbolts even after everything that went down between them all.
“The Thunderbolts don’t want to let him out of their sight, because they realize that if he’s caught in the wrong hands, or if he’s not being supported enough by the right people, he might be dangerous,” he explained. “But they also want to keep him close in case they can figure out a way to use him. He’s a very good asset. It’s a hard situation they’re in.”
Could that be a hint about what might be coming up in the Sentry’s next big MCU appearance? Of course, Pullman’s playing it coy.
“With all the other characters that are going to be in Avengers: Doomsday, there will be so many opportunities to figure out how each might come into play — and how Bob might come into play with any of them,” is all he’d say on the subject.
Thunderbolts*/The New Avengers is still in theaters. Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production for a December 18, 2026 release.
