He-Man's true power lies in his armor, movie star teases: "You just become abnormally confident in it"
Honestly, if we looked as ripped as He-Man, we wouldn't wear a shirt either

While the temptation in every cartoon remake and reboot is to ground the source material in reality, creating a gritty version of what was originally a playful show, that isn’t the route we see the upcoming Masters of the Universe film taking. The film’s director and star both used a recent interview to talk about how they were embracing the inherent silliness of Masters of the Universe, including how they were approaching that oh-so-revealing costume He-Man wears.
“There’s an inherent silliness to it, which we’re acknowledging and embracing,” director Travis Knight told Empire in a recent interview. “I think it’s a virtue, actually. And it’s woven into the script to help some of these things make sense to a modern audience. Like, why would a character have that stupid name? Well, over the course of the movie we show you why.”
Nicholas Galitzine is playing He-Man in Masters of the Universe, and he’s already admitted that getting into shape for the role was the most difficult thing he’s ever done. “I think anyone seeing that iconic physique would find it extremely daunting. Even the animations put Arnold Schwarzenegger to shame,” he explained. However, what he didn’t find difficult was wearing that iconic (and extremely revealing) costume. “You just become kind of abnormally confident in it,” he said. “It’s like when you do sex scenes. Everyone else in the room is more uncomfortable than you are, you know? Wandering around in this costume was empowering.”
He-Man and that “empowering” costume are returning to our screens on June 5, 2026.
