Paranormal Activity heads from movie theaters to... Broadway?

Not only is Blumhouse's killer found footage franchise heading to Broadway, its bringing stage scare legend Felix Barrett of Sleep No More on as director

You have to give them this - no scary movie franchise has brought you 'into the horror' like Paranormal Activity. There are already a whopping seven found-footage films in the franchise, with an eighth on the way in 2027, and now, the owners of the property are making the fear come alive in an all-new way: by bringing it to a Broadway stage production.

The news comes from a May 12 article on Deadline, which announced that the Paranormal Activity stage play is heading to Broadway starting August 14 for previews, and then officially opening its 20-week run September 15. Attached to produce is none other than Jason Blum, whose company Blumhouse has been with (and some might argue, built itself upon) the Paranormal Activity franchise since 2007. But Blum's isn't the only name horror fans should be paying attention to.

Directing the production, which is officially titled Paranormal Activity – A New Story Live on Broadway, is Felix Barrett, who NYC theater-lovers know as one of the creative minds behind the immersive, haunting production Sleep No More. And in case you needed any more spooky stagecraft cred - the play itself was written by Levi Holloway, the pen behind 2023's previous Broadway horror sensation, Grey House.

Paranormal Activity's Broadway debut follows sold-out runs in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC and San Francisco. Eager thrill-seekers can pre-order tickets and learn more about the show on its official website, and keep their crucifixes close (because those work in this franchise, right? Right?) as Paranormal Activity – A New Story Live on Broadway begins August 14.
