Amadeus Cho in the MCU? Shang-Chi's Simu Liu will co-sign that petition with you right now

And before you start yelling, yes, we know that Amadeus Cho technically appears in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

We the fans of the MCU are constantly thinking about which of our favorite comic book characters are going to make it onto the big screen. And apparently, we're not alone - the folks who bring those characters to life are themselves toying with the idea of their preferred Marvel superheroes (or supervillains) making their way into the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe, and at New York Comic Con 2025, we got queued in on one of those actors' nerdiest wishes.

Specifically, that actor was Simu Liu, who appeared alongside onscreen sibling Meng'er Zhang at the NYCC '25 Shang-Chi panel hosted by Popverse's own (devastatingly witty) Grant DeArmitt. At about the halfway mark of the panel, the MCU's Shang-Chi himself started taking questions from the assembled crowd of MCU fans in the audience, and one of those fans inquired about which previously unseen MCU character Liu thinks deserves the big screen treatment. His answer didn't take long.

"Amadeus Cho," said The Copenhagen Test star. Then, for anyone in the audience who didn't know, "He's a new generation Hulk, Korean-American. Very cool."

OK sure, loyal Popverse reader, neither Simu Liu or yours truly probably has to explain who Amadeus Cho is to you. In fact, not only are you likely aware of the Totally Awesome Hulk's exploits in Marvel Comics, you're also probably aware of the fact that Cho has kind of entered the MCU already, appearing as a character in the first season of Disney+'s animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Granted, YFNSM is somewhat tangential to the Sacred Timeline, technically taking place in a reality apart from the one Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was set in. But from a production-only standpoint, the show that makes Cho an intern at Oscorp was touted by Marvel itself as part of Phase Five.

But hey, if you really want to get all nit-picky with Marvel fan-favorite and Hollywood A-Lister Simu Liu, be our guest.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings s is streaming on Disney+ now. Simu Liu will return as Marvel's Martial Arts Maven in Avengers: Doomsday December 18, 2026.

Consider this a meta post-credits scene for Marvel fans - the four key articles you need to read next to continue the thrills:
