It's been 41 years since the original This Is Spinal Tap mockumentary film came out, and the band is getting back together for one more show with Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. This time, they'll be joined by a murderer's row of other artists, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Questlove, Chad Smith, Lars Ulrich, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues release date is September 12, 2025. Director-actor Rob Reiner is returning to direct the sequel film. Actors Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Fran Drescher are also coming back for the film. Bleecker Street has released a teaser for the film, which you can watch below.
Spinal Tap II is set 15 years after the events of the original film, with the band reuniting for one final show. Considering that it's been 41 years since This Is Spinal Tap came out, it'll be interesting to see how the film goes about making everyone, who has since aged in real time, look like both older versions of their characters and younger versions of the people they are in real life. We suspect wigs will be involved.
This July 5-7, This Is Spinal Tap will be re-released in theaters, to celebrate the film's 41st anniversary. So clearly, it's never been a better time to get loud than right now.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be released in theaters on September 12, 2025.
