Wolverine star Hugh Jackman is bringing the Old Man Logan treatment to Robin Hood, with A24's help

Was Robin Hood ever this feral? Hugh Jackman is definitely giving the legendary outlaw a much different treatment in the 2026 film.

As one of the most iconic figures in English literary history, there have been a lot of adaptations of Robin Hood over the years. Errol Flynn created the blueprint for the character on film, which has been maintained (and often parodied) over the years. However, Hugh Jackman appears to be bringing a powerful Old Man Logan vibe to his interpretation of Robin Hood in the upcoming film from A24.

He clearly isn’t done with Wolverine for Marvel Studios (till he’s 90, as Deadpool would say), but that doesn’t mean that Hugh Jackman isn’t ready to do something different with his time between playing everyone’s favorite mutant. In new photos shared by A24, we see him decked out in furs and sporting a wild, unkempt beard. The film, titled The Death of Robin Hood, is due out in 2026 and takes a much darker approach to the popular legend. Michael Sarnoski directs the new take on Robin Hood.

“What I love so much about Mike’s vision of Robin Hood is that the script delivered power, and it examines how power can be used for good or bad,” Hugh Jackman said about the movie. “Robin Hood is a real man in our story. With all the scars, the pain, the regret, and yes, the love. Mike’s story has weight to it. For me, it’s beautiful and human.”

“He was this murderous outlaw who did a lot of terrible things, and was kind of monstrous,” Sarnoski adds in the same interview. “But he’s lived long enough to see this folklore get created about him. He’s figuring out how he feels about that, about being portrayed as a hero when he knows what he really was.”

The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman as the most feral interpretation of the character we’ve seen, is out sometime in 2026. Michael Sarnoski directs the A24 production.
