First images show Millie Bobbie Brown's retro hair and Chris Pratt's questionable moustache in Netflix and the Russo Brothers' The Electric State
Did Chris Pratt show up on set with that mustache or was it inflicted upon him by hair and make-up? We may never know.

The upcoming movie The Electric State feels like someone took one of the biggest Netflix originals and smashed it into a who's who of MCU stars, as Stranger Things star Millie Bobbie Brown and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt lead a stacked cast directed by the Russo Brothers in what is surely going to become a huge hit for Netflix. We’ve just seen our first look at the retro-future world the Russos are building and it has left us intrigued and bewildered at the same time.
On one hand, we love the idea of a post-apocalyptic world being populated by animatronic mascots of a media franchise gone wrong. We’ve been saying for nearly a year that animatronic animals are a hazard waiting to happen, so this dystopian film feels all too plausible to us. And we know that Millie Bobbie Brown can work with an 80s aesthetic – it is what helped launch her career, after all. Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci are having a stare off, presumably trying to decide who is going to be the most quietly menacing figure in the movie. Ke Huy Quan looks like a feral nerd in a cave and we're here for it.
But then we look at Chris Pratt’s character in The Electric State and we are filled with questions.
He definitely has the “lone drifter” vibe going for him, though we’re just not sold on the overall look. Specifically, the handlebar mustache is a choice. Sure, it definitely gives a 1980s throwback feel to these images, but it also makes Chris Pratt’s character look like he absolutely owns a van that you should not, under any circumstances, get into.
Our misgivings about Pratt’s look aside, the cast of The Electric State is enough to keep us interested. Brown and Pratt are joined by Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito, Ke Huy Quan, and Stanley Tucci, making this feel like an MCU reunion that is being added to the Netflix library next year.
