X-Men actress Famke Janssen doesn’t own an action figure of herself as Jean Grey, because they don’t look like her
The action figures of Jean Grey from the original Fox X-Men films have had actress Famke Janssen saying, "Who is this woman? She has nothing to do with me!"

And everything happening this week for Future Fest!
Admittedly, part of what drives my action figure collecting is the immense creative liberties that toy companies sometimes take when designing face sculpts for characters. I'm the type of person who drops a ridiculous amount of money on a 1/6 scale Resident Evil 2 Leon S. Kennedy figure that has eyelashes and dimples, while also picking out hilariously janky Nightwing figures from the 1990s out of the discount bins at comic cons. I would say I'm equally impressed by toy companies' capacity for accuracy just as much as I am impressed by their ability to create figures that don't quite look like the characters we know and love.
But Famke Janssen, the iconic actress who portrayed Jean Grey in the original Fox X-Men films, doesn't share the same amusement. Speaking to our video producer, Ashley Victoria Robinson, Janssen revealed that she doesn't own any action figures for any characters that she has played.
"I have none," Janssen began. "I sign them when I go to a comic con... They don't even look like me... Like, 'Who is this woman? She has nothing to do with me!'"
Janssen joked that there should be an action figure made of her as Jean Grey that is "flattering to [her]." "Not make me worse, but better," the actress said. I've taken a look at the figures in question, and good lord, they look like they hopped out of a PlayStation 2 game. I would have no idea that they were of Janssen's Jean Grey if it weren't for the packaging they were in.
Of course, Janssen meant all of this in jest, but I'm hoping that someone at Marvel Legends will see this and take a hint. Both Jean Grey and Famke Janssen deserve better!
