Our Flag Means Death season 3 will be its last (if Max renews it)

If Max's fan-favorite pirate show sets sail once more after its second season, it will be for a final journey

Our Flag Means Death is returning for a long-awaited season two in early October, but that doesn't mean fans don't already have their sights on a season 3. Of course, while its still a little early to be waiting for an official renewal from streaming service Max, Our Flag Means Death showrunner David Jenkins has already mentioned a key nugget regarding a possilble season 3: that it would be the show's last.

Last week, when the official teaser trailer for season 2 was released, David Jenkins posted the trailer to his Instagram as a reel. In the comment section a name familiar to those who trawl Youtube and the interwebs popped up: Kristin Chirico. Comedian and writer Chirico commented, "my one life's regret is that I won't be cool or famous enough in time to hassle my reps to allow me to waddle across one scene while wearing a stupid hat or something."

In response to this comment, Jenkins replied "help get us picked up for a third (and final) season and we’ll talk 😘."

It looks like, whatever plans Max may have for the pirate-centered show, Jenkins already has an idea of an end in sight. Now, we just have to wait and see what Max does, and if Max ends up choosing to renew season 3 (fingers crossed), we may get the ending that these beloved characters deserve.

Our Flag Means Death season 2 debuts on Max on October 5. Catch up on everything we know about the show with our guide.
