Outlander has been renewed for its eighth and final season, announces Starz

Sing me a song of a lad that is gone-- it's time to say goodbye to Outlander. Starz has announced that the fan-favorite historical romance television series has been renewed for its eighth and final season. This season will consist of ten episodes to follow the lengthier 16-episode seventh season that will release this summer. So, for those who are wondering how many more episodes of Outlander they can look fowrard to, the answer is 26.

Though it is end days for Outlander, it isn't end days for Outlander's universe, as Starz has also greenlit an Outlander prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will focus on Outlander protagonist Jaime's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.

In a video announcing the season released by Starz, Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) tells fans, "We can't wait to bring the last season to you guys," with Caitríona Balfe (Claire Fraser) adding, "We hope we do you proud, and we're really really grateful, so thank you."
