Let’s-a Go! This summer's The Super Mario Bros. Movie is taking the warp pipe to Netflix later this week, just in time for a holiday rewatch. The film, which was a partnership between Illumination and Nintendo, became one of the highest-grossing films of the year thanks to its star-studded cast and the clever use of classic Mario music.

Netflix announced last month that they were bringing the world’s most famous plumber to their streaming service, but it looks like Mario is coming home a bit earlier than we expected. On December 3, the Chris Pratt-led film will make its way to the Netflix catalog. On the same day, it will be leaving the Peacock streaming service.

The deal which is bringing The Super Mario Bros. Movie to Netflix isn’t a global one, though. Only Netflix subscribers in the US will get to revel in Jack Black’s delightfully extra performance as Bowser, while the rest of the world will need to look elsewhere for their holiday fix.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s cast also includes Charlie Day as Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Pratt’s role as Mario was one of the more controversial castings in the movie, with him bringing just slightly more energy to the lead role than he did in the first trailer for the upcoming Garfield movie.

Despite an underwhelming lead, The Super Mario Bros. Movie grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office and became the second-highest-earning animated film of all time behind 2019’s Frozen II. Its success was likely a contributing factor to the news that we’re finally getting a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie out of Nintendo.
