Ryan Gosling is still channeling his Kenergy in new Fall Guy trailer

The dumb but loveable trope is working for the actor right now.

Stunt people are the unsung heroes of the film industry, but Ryan Gosling’s upcoming The Fall Guy tries to change that. The new trailer doesn’t shy away from giving away the entire plot of the movie, trusting that the action-comedy still has enough in the chamber to get you into the cinema this March.

There is some serious Kenergy on display in Gosling’s performance as Colt, the stuntman to one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Colt is on the set of his ex-girlfriend’s first film when the star turns up dead in a bathtub full of ice and must use his years of being beaten, dropped, and lit on fire for a living to uncover what happened to the film's star.

There is ridiculous humor paired with over-the-top action mixed with some meta jabs at the film industry in general which make this remake of a largely forgotten 1980s TV show one of the more exciting movies due out in 2024. We love the nods to how stunt performers are regarded on set, with one executive commenting that Colt is perfect to find the star because his job is to go unnoticed. We love the back-and-forth between Gosling and Emily Blunt, who plays the film's director and Colt's exasperated ex-girlfriend.

We’re hoping that The Fall Guy lives up to the high expectations this trailer sets. A fun, silly action film that steadily escalates in absurdity would be the perfect evolution of Gosling as one of the most surprisingly funny leading men in Hollywood right now.

The Fall Guy is due in theaters on March 1, 2024.
