9-1-1: Nashville Season 2: release date, cast, and was that season finale fight lethal?

Casting information for the sophomore season of ABC's drama answers one fan question about 9-1-1: Nashville

The finale of 9-1-1: Nashville's first season ended with a surprise on May 7th, 2026, leaving fans of the franchise to immediately wonder if the show would return for a second season, and when they would see what happened in the aftermath of Blythe's beatdown of Dixie. We can happily confirm that ABC has renewed 9-1-1: Nashville for Season 2, and it's set to begin fall 2026.

9-1-1: Nashville was created by Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani. It is the second spinoff of the 9-1-1 franchise, after 9-1-1: Lone Star, which concluded after five seasons in 2025. 9-1-1: Nashville follows the personal and professional lives of first responders at Nashville Fire Department Station 113. The show stars Chris O'Donnell as Captain Donald "Don" Hart, Jessica Capshaw as Blythe Hart, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as 9-1-1 dispatcher Cammie Raleigh, LeAnn Rimes as singer Dixie Bennings, Michael Provost as firefighter Ryan Hart, Juani Feliz as firefighter Roxie Alba, Hailey Kilgore as firefighter Taylor Thompson and Hunter McVey as firefighter Blue Bennings. The second season will add Ryan Phillippe to the cast in an as-of-yet undisclosed role.

The shocking cliffhanger of the show's first season saw what started as a confrontation between Blythe and Dixie over Don's relationship with them both - he's Blythe's husband and Dixie's ex - turn violent: Blythe attacked Dixie and was last seen slamming her repeatedly against a column before the screen turned to black and the audience heard Dixie scream. Some fans wondered if the final blow was intended to be lethal, but LeAnn Rimes has been confirmed to continue to be a series regular in the show's second season.

9-1-1: Nashville will return to ABC for Season 2, airing Thursday evenings at 9pm Eastern and Pacific (8pm Central) after 9-1-1. Although ABC has not announced an official return date for the show, based on historical evidence, it's likely that 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 will begin in the last week of September 2026.
