A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' season 2 release date hasn't moved - despite the set being literally underwater

A flood has wrecked the sets for the HBO spin-off from Game of Thrones, but the show remains on schedule nonetheless

There was a moment (I won't say which, to avoid spoilers) in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 when viewers really thought it was all over. When it sure seemed like our heroes simply didn't have what it takes to win the day. And then... well, that changed.

The reason I bring this up is that, similarly, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans themselves experienced a moment of (much less important) hopelessness recently, when reports flooded the internet that spelled doom for the show's second season. But we're thrilled to report, dear reader, that the rumors of the show's demise (and even delays) have been greatly exaggerated.

The story comes from Polygon, in a report detailing the extensive damage a massive flood had done to Gran Canaria, Spain, where A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is currently filming. After breaking a 15-year record for rainfall, the storm in question forced HBO to halt filming of the Game of Thrones spinoff series based on the Dunk & Egg series of novellas by George R.R. Martin. It also inspired the internet to go into panic mode about the series' future.

But according to a source close to Polygon, the future of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is not only secure, but it's still going just as planned. There's no indication that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 will be delayed, especially since HBO has not made an official announcement regarding its release date. Don't get us wrong, there's certain to be a lot of clean-up before filming can resume, but the point is that filming will resume.

Let's just hope the crew, who are almost literally fighting the tides right now, get the recognition they deserve for keeping things on track.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is expected to drop early 2027.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 may have wrapped on HBO Max, but with House of the Dragon season 3 coming just around the corner, it's always a great time to read up on all things Game of Thrones. Fortunately, Popverse has everything you need to journey through the George R.R. Martin-created Westeros, including:

Plus much more coming as it gets announced!

Grant DeArmitt

Grant DeArmitt: Grant DeArmitt (he/him) likes horror, comics, and the unholy union of the two. In the past, and despite their better judgment, he has written for Nightmare on Film Street and Newsarama. He lives in Brooklyn with his partner, Kingsley, and corgi, Legs.
