A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 3 just got sneakily confirmed by HBO boss
We were all pretty sure that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms would follow the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas into a three-chapter breakdown. But hearing HBO CEO Casey Bloys say as much is even more heartening

There's a good chance it won't surprise you to hear, dear Westeros fan, that somebody's talking about HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms getting a third season. After all, the Game of Thrones prequel is based off of George R.R. Martin's The Tales of Dunk and Egg, a series of novellas that currently number three. What might surprise you, though, is who is talking about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as a surefire thing: Casey Bloys, CEO of Game of Thrones' network HBO.
And that might surprise you because, well, HBO as a company has not officially confirmed season 3.
The quote we're referencing comes from an interview Bloys did with Deadline, published January 30, and what's interesting about the comment is that Bloys was talking about whether or not HBO would be adapting A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms stories based on yet-unpublished ideas from creator Martin.
"That would be a conversation with Ira [Parker, showrunner] and George," said CEO Bloys, who also took the conversation to confirm that Game of Thrones's other prequel, House of the Dragon, would be ending with season 4.
"[It's] certainly possible," he continued. "So we’ll see. They’re producing Season 2 right now, Season 3 beyond that. I haven’t really gotten into what’s possible beyond that, but if he’s got more stories, it’s certainly something to talk to Ira and George about."
Again, we want to stress that HBO, as a company, has not expressed their definitive greenlighting of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 3, but in terms of official statements, that wouldn't be too far above the company's CEO downright confirming it. And as for the show's future beyond that, well...
We sure hope Ira and George are having that conversation.
