American Dad Season 23: Release date, timeslot, cast and more

The animated series from Seth MacFarlane is back on the Fox Network

The second animated series from creator Seth MacFarlane, American Dad! has become almost as popular as its predecessor, Family Guy. So it's no surprise that as soon as the show's Season 22 finale debuted on June 21st, 2026, fans were immediately curious if the series would be returning for another season. Fortunately, Fox has already renewed American Dad! for four additional seasons, so you can expect Season 23 to debut in 2027.

American Dad! follows the Smith family, who live in the fictional suburb of Langley Falls, Virginia. Patriarch Stan (Seth MacFarlane) is a CIA Agent and Republican, his wife Francine (Wendy Schaal) is a stay-at-home mom, and their kids are Hayley (Rachael MacFarlane), an outspoken liberal, and Steve (Scott Grimes), a teenage nerd. Rounding out the family are Klaus Heisler (Dee Bradley Baker), a goldfish implanted with the brain of an East German Olympic ski jumper, Roger (Seth MacFarlane), an alien who escaped from Area 51, Rogu (Baker), Roger's tumor/son, and Hayley's husband Jeff (Jeff Fischer).

When American Dad! returns, you can expect the episodes to debut on Fox. For many years, the series aired on TBS. However, with Season 22, the show returned to its original home on Fox. Season 23 and the three additional seasons will also air on Fox.

Here's a clip from American Dad! Season 22:

American Dad! Season 23 will most likely debut on Fox in early 2027. Historically, American Dad! has aired on Fox on Sundays at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
